March is Kingdome History Month!

Although not widely known, March is Kingdome History Month in the city of Seattle and nationwide. The Kingdome's celebrated birth and early, ignonimous death both took place in March (20 March 1976 - 26 March 2000), and a growing movement is underway to honor the memory of this historic structure with various events and blog postings throughout the month.

By the slimmest of margins in a 1997 special election financed by billionaire Paul Allen, the fate of an early demise was sealed for a stadium that was built to last for centuries. Voter approval to construct a new, open-air stadium on the site of the Kingdome signed the death warrant for a marvel of modern engineering that was just 21 years old at the time. The public joy expressed at the Kingdome's implosion and the open disdain for architectural history and preservation can only be described as a wanton display of dot-com-boom-era excess and prodigality.

Since future generations of Seattleites have been denied the opportunity to witness a sporting or cultural event in the multi-purpose facility, Kingdome History Month has been established to both educate the public about a significant building in Seattle's architectural history, and to prevent future instances of grand-scale, thoughtless destruction.

Visit The Dome Of Kings for more informative postings throughout the month, and celebrate Kingdome History Month with us!

W950: SE Keeps it Comin'

Huh. Compare this new W950 to the old (as in last week) M600.

M600 looks filthy

I approve of reassigning the POTY20'6 crown to the M600. The PDA functions would be really useful for me, and I don't care at all about a camera (although doesn't that look like a camera lens block plate on the back of it?). If it syncs seamlessly with OS X, I'm sold. However, I can see this being one of those models that goes for €500. And that is not cheep at all.

Meanwhile, the rumor mill keeps churning out items about an Apple palm device or tablet. This would be my preference for a PDA.

M600: More Thoughts

Huh. Maybe I've rushed to judgement on this PotY206. After looking at it again, there's no joy stick, which I've come to love on the T610. The M600 is meant to be used like a palm device with a stylus. Maybe I'd like that, maybe I wouldn't. It's hard to imagine having an accessory device for a cell phone - and liking it. But maybe it's still easy to use without the stylus...? It also has no camera, but I'm ok with that, especially since it plays MP3's. C'mon Cingular... pick it up!

PotY206 = SE M600. Say no more!

This phone is the next T610. I said it before with the W810 and W800 but those phones are lacking the T610 design zen. This M600 has it! Huge high-res screen, clean lines, and a smooth qwerty keypad. Ill.
